Lord, Send The Rain
Who is God? Who am I?
The text of Matthew answers both of these questions in a profound way. As Jesus walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon, who was called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting nets into the sea for they were fishermen. And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fish for people." And immediately, they got up, left their nets and followed him. And he went from there and he saw two brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat with Father Zebedee mending nets. And he called them. Immediately, they left their boat and their father and they followed him. We are reminded through this text the depths and vastness of God's love for all people.
Blessed are those who mourn. Blessed are the quiet, the gentle, the meek. Blessed are those who hunger for something righteous. Blessed are the merciful. Blessed are the pure of heart. Blessed are the peacemakers. Blessed are those who are persecuted. And blessed are you when the kingdom of the world rises up against you because you follow Jesus more than you follow the world.
Where's your fishing net? What are you called to leave behind or more importantly to who are you called to disciple with?
